Can a broken denture be repaired?

If you have cracked your denture, or broken it into more than one piece and it is a hard pink plastic denture with no pieces missing and it has not been glued together, we can almost certainly repair it. If it is a metal framed, or flexible based denture, or it has been glued together we might not be able to repair it, but if you call us with more details we can give you some information. If it is the case that we cannot repair your denture, it is possible that it could be repaired with an impression of your mouth, which is something you will need to see a dentist for.

How long does it take to repair a denture?

The hard plastic of a denture can be repaired in around 2 hours. This includes re fixing a tooth to a denture, a crack in a denture or a broken into pieces denture (as long as no parts are lost).

Can I fix my denture with superglue or a repair kit?

If you have broken your denture it is very important that you don't try to glue it back together yourself or use a repair kit. Not only are glues potentially harmful, if you stick or try to fix it in the wrong position it could mean that it cannot be repaired at all, or you could need an impression of your mouth. You could be in a position where you have to wait several weeks while a new denture is made.

Why has my denture broken?

If your denture has broken in your mouth when eating something relatively soft, it could be an indication that it is not fitting properly any more. If this is the case we can repair it, but it should only be considered as a temporary measure and you should consult your dentist as a new denture, or a reline of your current denture, could be needed.

My denture has broken, can someone else bring it in?

If you need a denture repaired, but cannot bring it yourself, that is fine. Anyone can bring it as we don't need to see the patient.

 

How much does it cost, and how long does it take for a repair?
