Denture Care Tips

Dentures require daily care to keep them clean and prevent problems such as staining, plaque build-up, and potential gum irritation. Here are some tips for caring for your dentures:
* Handle your dentures with care. When you are cleaning or inserting your dentures, be sure to handle them gently. Dentures can break if they are dropped or bent.
* Clean your dentures after every meal if possible. Remove your dentures and rinse them with water to remove any food particles or use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your dentures.
* Brush your dentures daily. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a mild soap or denture cleanser to brush your dentures. Be sure to clean all surfaces of the dentures, including the inside surfaces that come into contact with your gums. DON'T use toothpaste on your denture, they are nor designed for use on dentures and can cause damage to the acrylic.
* Soak your dentures overnight in water. Most types of dentures need to stay moist to keep their shape. Place the dentures in water or use a denture cleaner specifically for overnight use.
By following these tips, you can help to keep your dentures in good condition for many years.
