Chrome Dentures

A chrome denture, also known as a cobalt-chrome partial denture, is a type of removable partial denture that uses a metal framework made of cobalt and chromium to support the pink gum and teeth. This framework provides strength and support for the denture.
Here are some of the benefits of chrome dentures:
-
Strength and durability: The metal framework makes chrome dentures stronger and more durable than traditional acrylic partial dentures.
-
Comfort: Chrome dentures are often more comfortable than acrylic dentures because they are less bulky on the roof of the mouth and can be made to fit more precisely.
-
Aesthetics: Chrome dentures can be made to look very natural, and the metal framework is not visible when smiling.
If you require a partial chrome denture to replace some of your natural teeth we would require a referral from a dentist before your treatment can begin (which we can assist you with). Once you have been referred the usual process of making a denture involves the following steps:
The first appointment: Intra oral and extra oral examination and the recording of facial measurements. Impressions of your mouth and possibly your existing dentures. These impressions are used to create models of your mouth for us to work with.
Second appointment: We use custom made impression trays to capture the most accurate copy of your mouth possible, these impressions are used to make the final models the dentures are made on.
Third appointment: A denture base is made from acrylic resin or other materials with wax blocks in place of the teeth. This base will fit over the gums and allows for the determination of the ideal tooth position and jaw relationship. We will work together to select the appropriate size, shape, and colour of artificial teeth.
Fourth appointment is a try-in of the metal frame: A cast metal frame is created and placed in the patient's mouth. This allows us to evaluate the fit and comfort, and adjustments can be made as needed. Once we are satisfied we can progress to the next stage.
Fifth appointment is metal and teeth in wax try in. We try the metal frame in again but with the earlier selected teeth set in wax, this allows us to evaluate the shape, colour and position of the teeth. Adjustments
Sixth appointment is fitting of the denture: The finalised metal and acrylic denture is inserted and any minor adjustments are made to ensure a comfortable and proper fit.
The appointments typically take around 30 to 45 minutes.
The entire process of making dentures can take several weeks, as it will require multiple appointments.
