Partial Dentures

If you require a partial denture to replace some of your natural teeth we would require a referral from a dentist before your treatment can begin (which we can assist you with). Once you have been referred the usual process of making a denture involves the following steps:
The first appointment: Intra oral and extra oral examination and the recording of facial measurements. Impressions of your mouth and possibly your existing dentures. These impressions are used to create models of your mouth for us to work with.
Second appointment: We use custom made impression trays to capture the most accurate copy of your mouth possible, these impressions are used to make the final models the dentures are made on.
Third appointment: A denture base is made from acrylic resin or other materials with wax blocks in place of the teeth. This base will fit over the gums and allows for the determination of the ideal tooth position and jaw relationship. We will work together to select the appropriate size, shape, and colour of artificial teeth. These teeth are then arranged on the denture base in a way that looks natural and functional ready for the next appointment.
Fourth appointment is a try-in: A wax model of the denture is created and placed in the patient's mouth. This allows us to evaluate the fit, appearance, and bite of the denture. Adjustments can be made to the denture and tooth position as needed. Once we are satisfied we can progress to the final stage.
Fifth appointment is fitting of the denture: The finalised fully acrylic denture is inserted and any minor adjustments are made to ensure a comfortable and proper fit.
The appointments typically take around 45 minutes each.
The entire process of making dentures can take several weeks, as it will require multiple appointments.
